Title: Alternative trigger pad for hihat
Post by: mynameistrouble on April 10, 2019, 08:57:28 PM
Hi,

I've recently setup my drumit5 after a long period of hiatus due lack of space and a baby. I had forgotten how loud the hihat pad is when struck.

Is there any way of triggering the hihat sounds by hitting a different pad, but leaving the hihat on the stand to control the cc controls for open and close? Putting it another way, is it possible to split the signal coming out of the pad cable (it's a stereo trs cable so I presume there are at least two signals coming out) so that the CC control still comes from the hihat, but the actual trigger comes from another pad, by way of a stereo Y cable, perhaps (one arm of the Y in the hihat and one in the pad)?

Many thanks,
Richard

Jman provides a solution to this. As does the Zumman box (to utilise Roland Hihat trigger pads)

Have a look at this - I did it with two hihat pads, but you could change the second hihat for a mesh head or any other alternative (quiet) pad
