Title: USB mode
Post by: sheguitarplayer on October 22, 2018, 04:42:17 PM
Hi
Im new so please be gentle.
So I connected my Drumit 5 to my iMac in usb mode to backup and then add the new os. It took almost an hour to backup. This seems very slow. Is this normal?
Cheers
Andy

Probably, it uses USB 1 speeds so to back up 4gb would take a while.

Thanks that's a relief. Seems like another good reason to go for the usb extender/upgrade path.

Oh definitely. 1. It's WAY faster. 2. It doesn't require the module powered up and connected in order to transfer files and 3. Way more space.

You have to exercise a little care when installing it, but as long as you do, it's a synch. Remember though, once installed the USB connection on the module is totally redundant.

Not just redundant, if you try to use the USB on the module with the extender installed and the card in the extender you stand a good chance of RUINING the card ......  :'(
