Title: Positional sensing
Post by: Dassman on July 15, 2018, 02:41:06 PM
I have my 2box set connected to Superior Drummer 3 (SD3) through MIDI and SD3 has a function called "Positional sensing". The purpose is to learn SD3 on what zone, e.g I hit on the snare drum.

I wonder if anyone have tried to use this to work? Any input would be appreciated

Drumit3/5 don’t detect positional sensing.
TD30 and 50 definitely do.
Ddrum3 and 4 can also, also can detect pressure!
Roland will need certain types of pads for this to work. TD30 will need a pad with a centre piezo. Ddrum 4/3 need a pad that’s similar to their cast precision or precision pads. Which is a piezo on a plate, foam ontop of that and a normal Mylar head.

Thanks for your input.

Does it mean that it is all about the pad, or is it a combination - the pad and the software support needed? I am curious if it's enough to replace the snare with a Roland pad?
