Title: Roland pads for toms rims triggering percussion?
Post by: Jsmash77 on January 04, 2018, 01:03:16 AM
So I searched and didn't see a clear answer.  I'm using Roland TD4 pads with the 2box module.  Is there not a way to trigger percussion (cowbell, etc) from the rims of the Roland toms,  or am I missing something?

TD4 comes with different toms configurations

If you have PDX-8 or PDX-6 , it s possible on toms and snare input .
Those pads are piezo/piezo , like 2box stock pads .

PD-8 has a piezo for the head zone and a switch for the rim ..
if you have PD-8 pads you cant have 2 zones on toms or snare  ...exept if you plug it on a cymbal input and set the trig mode to CYCUP . (Cymbal inputs on 2BOX modules are also Piezo/switch )

But for this you ll need to make a special Dsound with one sound for bow and one for the edge .
It s not possible to assign a different Dsound to the edge of a cymbal in the 2BOX module .
By the way , IMO it would be easy to make this possible with an OS update ... it would be a nice function that wont need any processor power , as it allready works if you build a cymbal dsound ...

It's the PDX-8, I have the rim click sound set and working on the snare pad, but even though I have the Tom rims set to various percussion in kit editor, when I play the kit, I just get a generic Tom rim sound.  Very odd, especially since I actually swapped the "floor tom" and "snare" pad at one point.
