Title: Double triggering on cymbal bow zone
Post by: welshsteve on April 27, 2017, 08:46:21 PM
Does anyone else find the cymbals double trigger 50% of the time on the bow? Rides and crashes alike. Even if you set mask time to 6 (or whatever the highest setting is) still happens. Its not really bothered me that much especially live as you don't notice is because they're so close together, but it's there and you can see on midi if you record into a DAW.

Or is it just mine? I was playing a mate's kit a few weeks back and even though I wasn't specifically looking for it, I am sure it didn't happen.

Are you using original 2box cymbals? I used DIY cymbals and I get this on the ride, but then it's a 18" monster to dampen properly.

Yes all original 2box cymbals. I have 3 and it's like it with all of them.
I also get it with a Roland bt1 trigger. Which for loops it's a pain because it starts and stops it immediately.

Apart from significant issues with my hihat (rogue triggers, etc.), my 2Box cymbals appear to work pretty well most of the time. I sometimes have some issues where I might get a different zone but I don't get double-triggering. I also use a BT-1 for additional one shots (rather than loops) without issues (provided I mount it fairly well isolated otherwise I get a lot of x-talk).

Now I'm new to 2box which is by far a superior module than any of the current Roland stuff. But since I bought it a couple of weeks ago I was having triggering problems with the 3 zone sounds on the cymbals, double triggers ,no triggers, bell on bow,  I thought the cymbals where at fault , I upgraded the firmware, still the same , so I did the 32 gig upgrade and formatted the new SD CARD and downloaded the full zip file of version 1.2 2box file and installed it fresh on the new SD card, then updated the firmware to 1.3 and hey presto everything is working spot on, must have been some corrupt file or files on original SD card. Has anyone else had the same problems as this ,?

I figured out what the problem was on mine, was a very easy fix, not I don't get it at all.

If you look at the hole where he cymbal rod goes though, you might be able to se the piezo (which is a donut shape that encircles the hole) if you see its come lose and detached from the plate, that's the issue. Suprglue it back to the top plate and it will stop. Or use a good helping of hot glue.

Worked a charm for me and it fixed all my cymbal pads.
