Title: Intermittent snare
Post by: b on April 26, 2010, 10:47:46 AM
It appears that my snare has packed up and died. it triggers normally and then in the middle of a beat it just cuts out and stops triggering and then goes back to normal then triggers nothing then triggers multiple hits. I have tried taking the head and rim off and re-seating them on the sensor. the same thing happens?

any ideas?

thanks.

Loose cable?

nope, not from what I can see. the cables attached to the sensors look fine also. I've tried using a different cable etc. the problem seems to be the pad/sensor. it is strange.

I meant the wire on the piezo element (sorry)
Therefor you need to open the pad

WARNING: do so at your own risk - if in doubt, talk to the shop you bought it from, or contact the good Dr Scottie at Hand in Hand!

had to do this with the hihat pad ... behaved similar to how you describe your snare pad ... resoldered the cable and it worked again...

Risk? the risk of taking off your head from Acoustic drum is far greater, bearing edge if you damage it, has do be done by a pro to be perfect. the 2box pads does not require a pro to assemble it.

Just don't like the idea of anyone having problems with their warrantee / guarantee if they have a go at soldering stuff and it goes wrong. I'm not doubting forum members' technical skills, just advising some caution :)

yeah, my soldering skills are awful. I'm not confident of trying to repair it myself at the moment. I am talking to Scottie about it.

Scott and Hand in Hand have proved themselves to be gods. Thanks guys. New snare rules! In a couple of weeks I'll get contributing with some sounds.
