Title: Added a Roland PD80 to my kit
Post by: Haggis-man on February 25, 2012, 11:34:34 AM
Hi guys,

I got a second hand Roland PD80 tom for a good price so I now have 4 toms. It works great, however acoustically its a good bit louder than the 2Box pads, almost sounds like a snare when not plugged in. Is this normal?

Cheers

hi

i use a PD-85 , it s the same product than yours , and it s normal it makes noise , especially when the meshhead is quite tight ... the dual head adds some buzz sound , it sounds a bit like a snare but a lot quieter ! The plastic housing amplifies the sound as well ...

if you want ,you can add a small piece of soft foam inside the housing ( there are some "cells" dividing the housing , just fill one of them with foam touching the head ).... that will make the pad quieter ...

Thanks, I wondered why it sounded like a snare! I'll give your tip about the foam a try.

Cheers
