'unaligned cluster' problem vs. 1.20 OS
« on: August 23, 2011, 08:55:29 PM »
Hi,
in my DrumIt Five SD card was replaced with a 16 GB SDHC card. (Fat 32, 32kb cluster size)
It was fine with DrumIt110.bin OS.
Tonight I coped DrumIt120.bin file to the root folder of the SD card. After a reboot an error message is coming: 'unaligned cluster'.
If I remove the new OS (DrumIt120.bin) it works again.  :-\
- Does anyone experience the same?
- Do you have any advice? How can I solve the problem?

Thanks a lot!
jim

Hi.
To optimize the drum voice engine I rely on clusters being aligned to (modulo) their own size.
All SD cards I have (and they are many) comply to this.
So maybe your card has been formatted with a non-sd aware program like standard windows format.
On www.sdcard.org there is a format utility somewhre which should fix this.

Deve.

Thank you very much!
I've formatted my SD card again with SDFormatter application and now it works!

I really appreciate your help. It's always a pleasure to read you comments in this forum!

Thanks again,
jim

Should I need to do a full overwrite format? I can't access the card via usb on my PC. A quick format changed the size to 1.73GB and I still couldn't access the card. I have a 32GB Sandisk SDHC card. I loaded all the data onto it by inserting the card in my laptop and copying it that way, then I installed it into the module.

Was that wrong?

I'm doing a full format as we speak. Will see how that goes.
