I remember they were red; not orange.

Nevertheless: fantastic set

I used to have a 13 piece Simmons kit held together with two Gibraltar racks shaped like a hexagon.  I was surrounded by pads!!  That was 1990.  The brain was a Roland R8 rack mount.  It was fun at the time.  I don't think I have any pictures left..

hi

Here are some pictures of my DIY kit... still needs some clean cable job and some finition , but all works quite well ...  it s just a bunch of pearl toms from a rythm traveller kit , one from my old pearl fiberglass , and a Mapex 13X5 snare drum... all is electronic , exept the hihat that is an acoustic 13" ufip .

Everything holds on 2 cymbal stands + a snare stand and lots of clamps.
The 2 small pads left to the hihat are canibalized yamaha DD5 parts mounted on foam ... The third little stand is to hold a microphone for ambient sound so i can hear hihat . It compensate also the latency of the snare sound by picking the snare impact directly ....

It s a prototype with lots of gaffa tape and non permanent wirings ... i m still improving the sensors performances , it s my own mix of personal solutions  and classical DIY designs found on the web ...
Cymbals are 3 zones with choke ...
For the snare lot of inspiration came from the Hart Dynamic system... but not exactly the same sensor design ...and more gaffa tape ;)

have a nice day folks

Nice Cymbals Cuban! How do they trigger?

Thank you.  :)
They work very well for me, but as other have said here, they have had issues.
I had to carefully select which sound files worked with which type of cymbal as not all did and then dial in a balanced sound level. Other than that, I only get 2-3 trigger errors on them per show.  :)

Hi

I have my module for a year and a half ...  After some times spent doing and collecting stuff , i fnally end up with something i like .

here is my actual kit , a mix from DIY pads ( snare , 2X10" toms , 12" kick drum ,14" triple zone ride , dual 4" pad ) and some roland stuff ( PD8 , PD85 , PDX8 , CY8 , CY5 )

Here is the DIY ride cymbal ... it worked really well for a year , never had triggering  issues...  only problem is the cracked  istambul cymbal i used for top cymbal continues to crack ( mostly close to the bell...)

I bought 2 second hand really cheap Edrums ( DTXPLORER & TD4k) , took some pads , the racks and cymbals and sold separatly what i didnt needed .... cost me quite nothing then ...  :)

I also have a Millenium remote hihat with an acoustic UFIP 13" hihat ... Manfred's HiHat board is under the remote hihat pedal , so both acoustic and digital hats are controled at one time ... the E-hihat is a CY5 ....

I also made a XLR patchbox , i dont like to have the module on the rack , because of vibrations and chocs .... so i can put it on a table , close to the mixer .   It s also nice because you dont damage the module's jacks so much when experimenting...

All is triggered with the drumit5 , cy5 and cy8  cymbals are doing a great job ...  i just have a Rim trigger input left ... all the rest is used  ;)

Nice set up edtc .  :)
Great to see you also use UFIP.

I have two complete sets for sessions and even my 2012 touring 'e' kit will have a set of UFIPs on it.  8)

Just a little teaser before reuniting everything together :

Gibbie rack and hardware : modified GCS400C rack with larger wings and added side legs with a no leg Hi Hat stand. A mix of Jman's A to E cymbals and 2box HH + cymbal . And of course a 2Box module hiding behind the HH pad. But it can't hide for  long with this orange color.

And recently made Diamond Electronic Drums with Black ripple wrap and Turquoise ripple stripe. Snare is oiled walnut veneer. Will be on its way this week.
