Problems with brain freezing (no pun intended)
« on: October 01, 2010, 06:09:42 PM »
I recently got the new 2box set and i've been drumming on it for 2 weeks without a problem but then... today when i was drumming the hi hat stopped working i rebooted the brain and it worked fine and i played again. i Switched to my favorite sound bank number 31 and it freezes again. I reboot it again and it works but again when i switch to sound bank 31 it freezes after a couple of hits. Any tips?

Ok so i tried around and all other soundbanks work except 31. The brain freezes only on that soundbank and only after i use the kick all other pads, cymbals and so on work

Hi

Certainly a problem with the sound of the kick?

What do you mean by "freeze"?

well basically the brain doesn't respond to anything, not when i hit the drums nor when i try to press a button on the brain. It's strange since i haven't edited any sounds unless i by accident pressed something while turning up input volume or something.

I have tested the kit 31 "Raining Blood", I have no problem with the kick ("speed kick") or with another pad or sound, the module doesn't freeze.  :-[

It's stange that it happens only with this kit number...
Perhaps that you should try to play during a long time with another kit to see if it arrives again.

Edit:

As says fishmonkey, if it continues, try to reinstall the system files of the brain: the OS 1.10, the DrumIt.DKIT file (http://www.2box.se/Pages/os-updates.html) and, if you can, the boot code updater (http://www.2box.se/Pages/bootcode-update.html), and perform an error check.

If it continues, contact your distributor or send a PM to Scottie (http://www.2box-forum.com/index.php?action=profile;u=14) to solve this problem.

sounds like maybe the firmware or the sound bank is corrupted on your module...

i would try downloading the latest firmware and reinstalling it on the brain.

also, connect the brain to your computer via USB and see if the kit editor has any trouble with the samples in that kit...

First off thanks for the replay's.

Unfortunately it didn't help with replacing DrumIt.DKIT file nor reinstalling the OS. I also did do a check on the disk and it didn't find any issues. When i connect it to my computer and try out the kick sound in the editor it works like a charm but as soon as i play it normally again it freezes. I have tried playing other sound-banks for 15 minutes and they all seem to work fine but after my first hit with the kick on number 31 it freezes.

The one thing i couldn't try was boot update due to me sitting on a Mac and having 64-bit in windows 7.
Btw i did download the boot file and it says 1.30 from the page on my brain i have 1.32 installed and OS 1.10. Maybe it's just the exe-file that isn't updated by name or do i actually have a new version?

I guess next step is to contact Scottie and see if he can help me.

hmmm, i still think the most likely culprit is a corrupted Speed Kick.dsnd file.

i've uploaded a copy here:

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/793739/2Box/Speed%20Kick.dsnd

try replacing the version on your module with that, and see if it helps...

Hello Guys. I received my 2box kit 4 days ago. And I'm loving it! It's only that just a few minutes ago my drum-module suddenly stopped responding when I was playing. It seems to be the same issue as with Jova's module, except for me it seems to be with the snare ("Alu_14_Snare_Amb") on kit number 86 ("Gold_Kit").

I haven't really tried anything yet, but I would guess the solution is that I need the dsnd file for Alu_14_Snare_Amb?

Please help :-(

Thank you very much fishmonkey. I'll try it later today after work and see if it helps.
